They Are Your Cholesterol Numbers And You Are Responsible For Lowering Them

A report issued by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) says that two-thirds of American adults suffering from high cholesterol as well as fifty percent who have hypertension are not receiving effective treatment. This lack of treatment for both ailments raises these individual’s risk of heart attacks or stroke.

Nor is this a health care related issue. The CDC says that in excess of eighty percent of those dealing with hypertension or higher than recommended levels of LDL (bad) cholesterol are covered by either public or private health insurance plans.

The conclusion is that, even those with the financial resources to receive medical care are not doing enough to reduce either LDL cholesterol, or hypertension. read more »

We Need Some Cholesterol To Be Healthy

Although advertisers of cholesterol lowering medications understandably spend a great deal of their money and our time to convince us that cholesterol is a bad thing, cholesterol does exist in our bodies for a reason.

Cholesterol is carried throughout the body by the blood stream and its main function is to assist in building and maintaining membranes throughout the body. It helps keep these membranes flexible and supple over a wide temperature range. Inside the cellular membranes themselves, cholesterol is required for effective nerve and cell signaling and conduction. read more »
